What
is StepUp?
StepUp is a PC Migration Tool that allows the user
of a new computer the ability to move data, application
settings and the system settings from one computer
to another computer. Your data, application settings
and system settings are automatically migrated with
a simple installation process. You do not have to
remember all of those complicated settings, or use
floppies or disks to move data. |

Is
it easy to install StepUp?
Installation of StepUp is very easy. You just have
to run the Setup file in the destination PC. You
don't have to install it in the Source PC. |

How
about updates and newer versions?
CellarStone India regularly updates the features
and functionalities of StepUp, based on customer
requirement and feedback. Whenever there's a new
version, the customer will be advised by email. |

On
your Web site, I see the terms "Source PC" and " Destination
PC". What do these terms mean?
The Source PC is simply the PC containing the data,
application settings and system settings you want
to migrate. This is typically your "old" PC. The
Destination PC is the "new" PC to which you are migrating
these data, application settings, and system settings. |

Does
StepUp migrate data from one hard drive to another
within the same computer?
StepUp migrates data only from one PC to another.
It does not support migration between hard drives
of the same PC. |

Can
I migrate applications using StepUp?
StepUp does not migrate applications. You can
use StepUpPro to
migrate your application settings from one PC to
another. |

| Why am I not
able to connect my destination PC with the source
PC? |
Check if the following
conditions satisfy:
- The C: drive of
the source PC should be shared as C$, D$
etc.
- The source PC should
refer to the destination PC exactly by
the same name as its identification name.
- For LAN crossover
cable, the source and the destination PCs
should be in the same workgroup. For Parallel
and Network LAN, the two PCs should be
under the same domain, but need not be
under the same workgroup.
- For Parallel cable,
Direct Cable Connection Service should
be established in both source and destination
PCs.

Pentium processors PIII or above
128 MB RAM or more 40 MB of hard disks space
Systems should have any one of these ports for establishing
connection:

Network (Ethernet) port with a LAN connection
USB port with USB cable

No. You cannot migrate to lower configuration. |

Yes. You can execute the migration process successfully
from Higher to lower configuration. For example:

I run StepUp if one of my computer's hard drives
is partitioned?
Yes, You can run StepUp on any drive. But you cannot
migrate the applications and files between the partitioned
hard drives. |

I use StepUp to transfer data from Apple/iMac computer

No, StepUp doesn't support Apple/iMac computer

Where
should I install StepUp - Source or Destination
PC?
StepUp should be installed in the destination PC
only, and not in the source PC. The destination PC
must have Windows 2000 Professional, Windows XP Professional

No. You cannot migrate all the settings, data and
applications from PC to CD. |

What
happens if power fails during the migration?
(Depends on what stage the power failure occurs)
You cannot start from where you have stopped. Check
the destination PC for the data or applications that
have been migrated, and start a new migration process
for the rest of the settings, data or applications. |
