How DeDupe Works?
         

Select Folders and Settings

The Folders and Settings tab help you to select the folders, file size and certain types of file extensions to scan.

Size of Files to DupeCheck: You may specify the size of the files to be scanned.

File Types to be Included: Click on the Add button to add a new file extension to the Include list box which should be prefixed with a period(.), for example (.txt).

Selected Items Only: This option displays only the selected file extensions which are specified in the "File Type to be Included".

Exclude: The Exclude button will pop up a form through which you can specify the file extension/file to be excluded.

Selected Items Only: You may check the box to display only selected File Extensions and File Names to be excluded.

Set DeDupe Options

Find Duplicates At Level Chosen: This option allows you to scan the duplicate files till the level chosen and highlights the level of the match in the result page if the selected criterion exactly matches with duplicate files.

Find Duplicates Upto the Level Chosen: This option displays duplicate if the primary and the duplicate file name are same and continues to scan the duplicates till the selected criteria level is matched and highlights the level of match in the result page.

Content match: "Find Duplicates- Content match" option is chosen to find duplicate files based only on the content.

Schedule a Profile

You can schedule a DeDupe profile to run automatically at regular intervals. You can switch to Schedule tab to set the options that are required to schedule the profile.

To enable the scheduling process click "Schedule Auto DupeCheck at".

Result Display
The Result page has seven column data related to the duplicate files found.
 

When you choose the option of "Find Duplicates-Content match",   similar content gets matched irrespective of the file name, size, date of creation of the file and path of file. The duplicate files with same file name gets displayed in green color.

The MD5 algorithm is used to compare the content of the files. If the content of the files match, MD5 Checksum gets displayed.
