What is a default profile? A
default profile is a predefined set of attributes, which comes along with DeDupe
application. Default profile can be your frequently accessed files and settings,
in which you can customize and overwrite the settings. You can preset the date
and time for running the default profile by scheduling. The features of
the default profile are: - Scans the contents of "My Documents"
-
Excludes files like Install.txt, License.txt, ReadMe.txt and Setup.exe
-
File Name Match is used as degree of level of match to search for the duplicate
files
- Skips System files and Hidden files
- Protects System Folders

| What
if I delete the default profile? DeDupe does not allow you to delete the
default profile through the application. Deletion of default profile will not
affect the functionality of DeDupe application. |

a duplicate scanning of the default profile be done automatically? DeDupe
cannot scan the default profile automatically, but can be scheduled to run at
a later date and time. |

| Does
DeDupe provide any limitation in scanning the duplicates in default profile? DeDupe
does not provide any limitations in scanning the number of duplicates in the default
profile. |

| How
do I create a new Profile? Every time the DeDupe application is
initiated a Profile Manager is displayed from which the following steps are involved
to create a new profile: - Select one or more folders
- Set
one or more DeDupe options
- Save the profile (DeDupe adds the extension
.wdd)

What will happen if an existing profile
is deleted? DeDupe will not allow you to delete an existing profile
through the application. However, if a profile is deleted it will not affect the
functionality of the DeDupe. |

| I
have scheduled a profile to be run at a later date and would like to stop it before
the specified date. How can I proceed with this? DeDupe does not provide
an option to automatically stop the scheduling process before the specified date
and time of execution. However it allows the user to change the schedule of the
profile manually to run at later date and time. |

| What
is a Primary file? Can I change the primary file? The file with the latest
date of modification and the latest version (if applicable) is called as a Primary
file. Selecting an option "Mark as primary" in the result page can change a primary
file. |

| Can
I run DeDupe on regular intervals?
DeDupe allows the user to schedule a
profile which can be run at regular intervals like Daily, Weekly, Monthly or
Once at a preset date and time. This option can be set through the Schedule
option in the DeDupe Application. |

| What
is the rate of speed to scan the duplicates? The rate of speed to
scan the duplicates depends on the size of the drive you have selected. However,
for a 2 GB hard drive it takes approximately 5 minutes to scan the drive. |

What are the various actions allowed by DeDupe?
| Delete Duplicate | : | Deletes
the duplicate files permanently from the physical location of the system. |
| Mark as Not Duplicate | : | If
this is set you can mark any duplicate file(s),as not duplicate. |
| Mark as Primary | : | By
selecting this option you can mark any duplicate file as a primary file. |
| Compress into Zip
File | : | You
can select any duplicate file(s) for compress into Zip operation. User can save
the disk space by zipping the files. | | Create
Shortcut | : | By
selecting this option you can delete a duplicate file and shortcut of the primary
file is created in the the location of the deleted duplicate file. |
| Move to Folder | : | You
can select any duplicate file(s) and move to any folder in system. System prevents
duplicate files movement in same folder by renaming the duplicate files. |

Primary | : | Compares
the content of each duplicate file (child), one by one, with the primary file. |

How can I delete a file once the duplicates
are found? In the result page right click the mouse button, from the pop-up
menu select "Delete Duplicate" to delete a file. |

| How
do I know there are duplicate files found? After completion
of the dupecheck process, the result will be generated automatically if any duplicate
files are found. |

| Can
I print the dupecheck result? The current version of DeDupe
does not support this feature. |

| Can
I exclude or include specific file extensions to be scanned? DeDupe
has the options to include or exclude given file extensions in finding the duplicates. |

Is it possible to save settings and run DeDupe
later? Yes. You can save the settings as a profile, which
can be scheduled automatically to run at a specified date and time. |

| How
can I protect the system files and folders from being deleted? DeDupe
provides a safety measure by excluding the system files, folders and hidden files
from scanning .We recommend that these options are to be checked always (in the
DeDupe options tab) to avoid any accidental deletion of these files. |

What is View Log? A
View log is a log file which displays the profile name, the date and time of execution
and the mode of execution like default, windows explorer, schedule and drive monitor
carried out during dupecheck process |

| What
is content match and how can I do that? Which file extensions are supported by
DeDupe? Content Match is a process of matching the contents
of a selected file(s) byte by byte. DeDupe supports all the file extensions available
in the local system and the new extension can be added through DeDupe application
if any. |

| Does
DeDupe automatically delete the files after finding the duplicates? DeDupe
will not delete the files automatically after finding the duplicates. It will
ask the user if it is to be deleted or moved to a specified folder. |

| What
is the default number of duplicates that will be listed? Can I customize this
option? The default number of duplicate is 1 and you can
customize this through the DeDupe Options in Profile Manager. |

What happens if virus affects my files? Will
my files be scanned for virus before performing a duplicate file check? DeDupe
is a duplicate file finder utility and will not scan for viruses while searching
duplicate files. |

| Does
DeDupe provide disk clean up? DeDupe is not a disk cleaning
utility. It finds the duplicate files in the system based on the folders selected
by the user and scans for duplicate files within the selected folders and displays
results. |

| Can
I undo "MARK AS NOT DUPLICATE" in the result option? Yes
you can UNDO file(s) which are marked as not duplicate(s) by selecting "Undo
Mark As Not Duplicates" from the Options menu.  |

| What
is Recurrence pattern?
The recurrence pattern allows specifying the timeframe
between occurrences of a Dupe Check profile being scheduled. The timeframe can
be set as Daily, Weekly, Monthly or Yearly. For Example: If the recurrence
pattern is set as Weekly, the scheduling process will be repeated once in
every two weeks on the specified day(s) and time.

Will a prompt message appear whenever I switch
on my computer, if a profile is set to run at a later date of the week or month
or year? DeDupe displays the status and name of the scheduled profile in
the Systray, which is to be executed at a specified date and time. The Systray
is part of the windows taskbar that usually displays the time and a number of
small icons from other programs. DeDupe application will be displayed in Systray
by selecting "Show DeDupe in Systray" from the System wide option Clicking
DeDupe icon in Systray can perform the following tasks:
- Opens the DeDupe application
- Exits from Systray

I change the total number of files or folders displayed in the SysInfo? DeDupe
allows the user to change the total number of files and folders displayed in the
SysInfo by setting the values in the System wide option. |

information will be shown in the Disk Statistics? Disk Statistics displays
details about free and used hard disk space with the help of Pie Chart. |

| How
many largest files by default will be displayed in the System Information? DeDupe
displays 10 largest files in the System Information Page. |

Does DeDupe support network drives? DeDupe
lists the local and mapped network drives irrespective of any permissions but
to perform a few of the tasks you are required to have rights to access the drives. |
